Ethnic Heritage Ensemble - Winter Jazz Fest
One of the oldest organizations coming from a place known for it's musical and cultural movements, The Ethnic Heritage Ensemble is an establishment. Their first record was in 1981 and they have not stopped since. The leader and founding member Kahil El'Zabar is simply a powerhouse musician rooted in African percussion but one of the faces of the Chicago music movements. His talents have been employed by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Paul Simen, Cannonball Adderley among others and it is a real pleasure to have Kahil lead The Ethnic Heritage Ensemble right here in Ottawa, closing the first Ottawa Winter Jezz Fest.
He will be joined by
Ernest Khabeer Dawkins on saxophone
Corey Wilkes on trumpet
The Ethnic Heritage Ensemble will be performing
Feb 4th at
The Mercury Lounge
