Oliver Jones at Winter Jazz Fest
As I am thinking what to write about this extraordinary musician, I am browsing my collection as well as other sources and am being reminded of the magic of Oliver Jones's persona. There is no flash, there are no new inventions but there is simply magic. Oliver Jones was born in Montreal, his initial musical education came from church, followed by classical music and later from one of the greatest Canadian Jazz legends in history, Oscar Peterson. I will not bore you with the awards he has won, as I feel like Oliver is the real deal and the music speaks for itself with him. At 77, he is as youthful as ever, opening his band up to a young generation of musicians that he will be performing with on Saturday.
This will be a headlining show of the Winter Jazz Fest and will be beautiful!
