Hi everyone, I just wanted to tell you about a friend and incredible musician who is on tour currently east-coast Canada with a fabulous project.
Saxophonist Chet Doxas and his brother, drummer, Jim Doxas are sharing the stage with the legendary bassist Steve Swallow and forward-looking trumpeter/composer Dave Douglas (who was in Ottawa at the festival this summer with Joe Lovano)
Riverside is a collective idea conceived by saxophonist, Chet Doxas and trumpeter, Dave Douglas.
In Riverside, each member of the group has written pieces that are designed to capture the creative spirit of jazz legend, Jimmy Giuffre.
Expect a beautifully artistic tribute from these amazing musicians. Please note that bassist Steve Swallow actually played with Jimmy Giuffre in the 60s.
Their US and Canadian tour will be followed by the recording of an album of this repertoire.
