Commuter Series @ Delta Ottawa City Center

Zakarai Frantz - alto saxophone

Zak has a beautiful flowing sound with cool jazz-like lines weaving through standards and originals. He gets to shine here as the house band at the Delta City Center.

Canadian born, Austin based, guitarist, singer, songwriter, and harmonica player Ray Bonneville describes his music to have a loose, darkly funky vibe. He has fans as a blues artist, as a folk artist, a great songwriter and his sense of groove attracts musicians and fans from all across the board of styles. Drawing on the roots of jazz, what better place to present Ray than the Ottawa Jazz Festival - this guys is the real deal!

NATIONAL ARTS CENTER

7pm @ NAC's Fourth Stage

Francois Houle takes over the Fourth Stage tonight starting with:
François Houle – clarinets
Benoît Delbecq – piano
The French pianist who is making waves in all kinds of styles of music from chamber to jazz in Europe, teams up with Vancouver's virtuoso clarinetist Francois Houle, who has, among other things, recorded with the great Dave Douglas.

9pm @ NAC's Fourth Stage

François Houle – clarinets
Taylor Ho Bynum – cornet
Samuel Blaser – trombone
Michael Bates – double Bass
Harris Eisenstaedt – drums
This Songlines released album is an assembly of some of the busiest improvisers from Canada and beyond. They are all great instrumentalists and composers in their own right, which always makes for very thoughtful and beautiful music.

7pm & 9pm @ NAC's Studio

Branford Marsalis – saxophone
Joey Calderazzo – piano
I love seeing great jazz artists in duo format - it's really like listening in on a conversation. Last year it was Brad Mehldau & Joshua Redman, earlier in the week it was Dave Holland & Kenny Barron and this will be just beautiful!

@ MAIN STAGE

7:30pm @ Concerts Under The Stars - Main Stage Confederation Park

This will be a fun night no doubt!
The son of the great Bob Marley, Ziggy carries on the family tradition of advocating for human rights through groovin reggae tunes. He has a big band with him and will get you off your feet whether you want it or not.

9pm @ Concerts Under The Stars - Main Stage Confederation Park

Steve Martin – banjo
Mike Guggino – mandolin, vocals
Charles Humphrey III – bass, vocals
Woody Platt – guitar, vocals
Nicky Sanders – fiddle, vocals
Graham Sharp – banjo, vocals
He is a surprisingly burning banjo player and we all know he'll be funny. This will just be fun for all!

10:30pm OLG Late Night - main show

Eliane Elias – piano and vocals
Marc Johnson – bass
Rafael Barata – drums
Rubens De Lacorte – guitar
She has always had a love affair with Brazilian music. She has a beautiful touch on the piano and has a great band including the amazing Marc Johnson on bass.
