Improvised Music Of Ottawa
At the frontlines of Ottawa's creative music

Well I've been following Improvised Music of Ottawa for a while now. It is the brainchild of trumpeter Craig Pedersen and saxophonist Linsey Wellman and their goal is simple: to put on concerts of creative music on a regular basis. I love what they are doing, this is extremely important work: it is how we move ahead in the creative process as a community so if you are interested you can see what's going on on their website at improvisedmoo.com. The concerts are usually on Sundays at 7pm at Umi Cafe located at 610 Somerset Street. This week there are two groups:

Set one consists of:
Craig Pedersen - trumpet, electronics
Linsey Wellman - saxophone, bass clarinet

In Craig's own words: "Set two will feature the duo of Anton Covic and Linsey Wellman.  Anton is a flamenco guitarist who lived in Ottawa for a long time before moving up North nearly a year ago. He's back in town for a short visit, and he and Linsey are really looking forward to playing together again.  They'll be doing a set of flamenco forms."

Set two:
Anton Covic - flamnenco guitar
Linsey Wellman - flute
